The ways built into the Mac OS are quite good. There are plenty of ways to acquire the scan. Even that doesn't do the actual scanning. Music-to-XML is the product that was to have been included with 25 but was dropped before release. Unlike Lite, SSP allows you to export as MusicXML In addition, it handles lyrics and a much greater range of expressions, bar line types etc.

SSP was always an upgrade to the original SS Lite that was bundled w/ Finale. No lyrics, few bar lines, fewer expressions etc. SS Litte was extremely limited in functionality. tiff import is gone in 25 but you don't need it.
